Paris: Bonne Press, 1945. 1st Edition. Paperback. This is an unusual wartime booklet about Churchill published in Paris in French. The subject appears to be a biographic portrait of Churchill and the booklet appears to be issued as part of a series titled "Men and Events of the Day”. Bibliographer Curt Zoller states the date of publication as 1945, though we find no date on the publication itself. The pamphlet measures 7 x 4.75 inches, 85 paginated pages in length, and is printed on cheap wartime paper similar to newsprint and bound in wraps of the same paper. There are photos in black and white at pages 32 and 64.
Condition is only fair owing to a detached front cover. The front cover is chipped at the edges and bears a small pencil notation at the upper left, a small circular sticker affixed to the lower left, and an oval ink stamp in the center. The balance of the booklet - both the contents and rear cover - are fully intact. An oval ink stamp in three lines reading "BONNE PRESSE / BIBLIOTHEQUE / 5, Rue Tayard, Paris-8" appears on the front cover, ffep, and pages 61 and 63.
