In 1943, she became the first Afrikaans woman to win the Hertzog Prize, the most prestigious award in Afrikaans literature. This volume, one of a thousand copies of the first edition, is fine in a near-fine dust jacket. The burgundy cloth binding is clean and bright with no wear, square corners, and bright spine gilt. The contents are tight and clean with no spotting or previous owner inscriptions.
