Amsterdam: Adriaan Wor, en de Erve G. Onder de Linden, 1746. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Jan de Marre (1696-1763) was a commander of a Dutch East India Company ship. This volume, in Dutch, remains in an intact original binding in good plus condition with near fine contents. The half leather binding features decorative gilt spine bands and leather corners over speckled paper boards with red-speckled page edges. The binding is sound and square with wear at the corners, abrasions to the rear board, and overall wear and some cracking to the spine. The contents are bright and surprisingly clean, with very mild toning and occasional light spotting confined to the page edges. There are two engraved title vignettes and one engraved portrait of the author. All in all an extremely nice copy of this scarce work. Item #003946
