Winston Churchill: An intimate Portrait

New York: Harcourt Brace & World, New York, 1965. First U.S. edition. Hardcover. The author was a close friend of Churchill and the daughter of Prime Minister Herbert Asquith, the second Prime Minister in whose Cabinet Churchill served. According to bibliographer Curt Zoller "Despite Churchilll's ups and downs with Prime Minister Herbert Asquith, his daughter Violet (later Violet Bonham Carter) remained devoted to WSC from the early 1900s and knew him like few others. Her remembrances are a modern classic, beautifully written with many perceptive observations..." This copy is good plus in a like dust jacket. The black cloth binding is square and tight though the color is mottled and the gilt titling on the spine is dulled. The contents are clean and free of spotting or ownership markings.
