Annotated Bibliography of Works About Sir Winston S. Churchill, signed by the author.
Armonk, New York and London, England: M. E. Sharpe in Association with The Churchill Centre, 2004. First edition. Hardcover. Curt Zoller's (1920-2014) work is the most comprehensive extant bibliography of works about Sir Winston S. Churchill (1874-1965). This copy, signed by the author, is in very good minus condition. The binding, featuring glossy paper-covered boards, is square, clean, bright, and tight with sharp corners and no toning or soiling. We note only a hint of shelf wear to the corners and spine ends, a little superficial scuffing, and a tiny nick to the front cover just to the right of Churchill's portrait. The contents are bright with no spotting or soiling. The chief defects of this copy, and why we price it considerably lower than it might otherwise command, are some wrinkling to the top edges at pp. 129-134 and pp.217-218 and marginal asterisks or short notations beside titles throughout. Clearly a collector made use of this copy - as will, we hope, another.
Churchill was both a preeminent statesman and prolific author (not only twice Prime Minister of Great Britain but also winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature). The comet trail of his long and eventful life naturally rendered him the subject of a remarkable abundance of writing about his deeds, character, and impact. Mr. Zoller's work is an indispensible companion to those wishing to know what has been written about Churchill. Zoller categorizes works about Churchill as follows: Section A, Works Entirely About Winston S. Churchill; Section B, Books Containing Substantial Data About Winston S. Churchill; Section C, Articles About Winston S. Churchill in Periodicals and Lecture Series; Section D, Reviews of Books by Winston S. Churchill; Section E, Dissertations and Theses About Winston S. Churchill. The work also contains Indexes of both titles and author names. Item #008084
