We bring a collector's sensibilities to bookselling. We strive to treat our customers as we wish to be treated. This ethos informs our terms and services.

Even though much of the antiquarian book business is now online, we try to bring the same level of personal care and attention that a collector might find in a traditional "brick and mortar" bookshop. 

Our descriptions are reliably detailed, accurate, and forthright, always accompanied by images of the actual item offered, enabling our customers to be fully informed and confident about any purchase. We endeavor to answer inquiries fully and swiftly. We pack and ship all orders with care and attention.

You may purchase from us with the confidence of knowing that we are members in good standing of distinguished bookselling trade associations with strict codes of ethics, including the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association of America (ABAA) and the Internation League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB).

We have considerable experience with most of the myriad works by and about Winston Churchill. We are committed not only to helping Churchill’s words find your shelves, but to sharing our bibliographic experience via our online Guide to Churchill’s books, our blog, and direct communication. What we know we are happy to share. And what we don’t know we are eager to learn. Please feel free to contact us with questions and comments.

While we are known for our specialty in works by and about Sir Winston S. Churchill, our inventory also includes a robust and ever-expanding variety of noteworthy first and collectible editions by a wide range of authors.

Whatever authors you collect, we are able to help assemble full collections aor acquire individual volumes, working closely with collectors to identify and accommodate their preferences and budget. We are also able to commission preservation cases and fine bindings.

TermsServices

Payment

For orders placed via our website, we accept payment in U.S. dollars ($USD) via credit card, wire transfer, PayPal, cash, or, for returning customers, $USD check.

We process payment manually upon receiving an order, adding appropriate shipping and required taxes and factoring any applicable credits or discounts at that time. 

For our returning customers, we accommodate an installment payment option. Terms are: 1/3 due immediately, 2/3 within 30 days, full payment within 60 days; installments are non-refundable; shipment upon payment in full. If you wish to use the installment payment option, please state your preference in the “Comments” section when you place your order.

Confidential Customer Contact List

We periodically contact our customers regarding new listings and special opportunities. Join our contact list to receive first notification of new listings and exclusive offers.

Shipping

We offer free shipping within the United States by USPS Media Mail. We offer Priority Mail shipping within the United States at cost. For international sales we typically use United Parcel Service (UPS) or DHL.  We are happy to use other customer-preferred shipping methods. No matter what shipping method we use, we invoice at cost; we do not charge for careful packaging and materials.

If you need your item urgently, we will do our best to accommodate.

Wants List

If you seek an item you do not find in our current online inventory, please contact us; we may have it in unlisted inventory. If not, we will likely be able to find it for you. We encourage us to let us know your wants.

Returns

If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please contact us immediately and make arrangements to return the item within ten days.

Building Collections

We are able to help assemble full collections, working closely with individual collectors to identify and accommodate their preferences and budget.  We are also able to help you commission preservation cases and fine bindings. 

Your Privacy

We never share your contact information, purchase history, or preferences with any third party.

Gift services

We gift wrap all orders. We are happy to include gift notes. 

Returning Customer Discount

Ask about our website order discount. For returning customers placing any order via our website, as well as for those who join our confidential customer contact list, we always discount 10% from list price before processing payment.

We buy books and collections

We are always interested in acquiring works by or about Sir Winston S. Churchill. We also invite you to offer collectible works by all authors. We buy, and in some cases consign, fine and collectible individual items, as well as entire collections.
