SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL - HIS LIFE AND TIMES - A 1964 eight-part composite photographic portrait of Winston S. Churchill prepared for promotion of the BBC-TV's programme "90 YEARS ON" broadcast on the eve of Sir Winston S. Churchill's ninetieth birthday, the photograph accompanied by the original BBC caption and information sheet.

Churchill was prepared by the British Broadcasting Corporation's "90 YEARS ON" live variety show broadcast on the eve of Sir Winston S. Churchill's ninetieth birthday. The eight images of Churchill included span 1889 to 1953. The photograph features the original BBC caption sheet on the verso and is accompanied by a "BBC TV ENTERPRISES" information sheet not only repeating the photograph's caption information, but also detailing "STARS WHO APPEAR IN '90 YEARS ON'".
The 9.875 x 7.375 inches print on glossy photo paper is in very good plus condition, clear and clean with only minor wear to corners and extremities contained within the white border margin. Over the upper right corner of the original BBC caption on the verso is affixed the sticker of the "Photofest" agency who later owned this print. The accompanying BBC Information sheet is clean and complete, though worn at the edges, including short closed tears. The photo and Information sheet are each protected within their own clear, removable, rigid mylar sleeve.
The eight images of Churchill featured are, per the BBC Caption, the following: "As a schoolboy at Harrow in 1889; As a Subaltern in the 4th Hussars 1895; In the uniform of the South African Light Horse, 1899; At the time he left the Conservatives and joined the Liberals, 1904; With the Kaiser at the German Army Manoeuvers, 1909; In France with General Fayolle, 1915; Outside No 10 Downing Street, June 1943; As Prime Minister, leaving Buckingham Palace for the Coronation, 1953".
Per the BBC Information sheet, the assemblage of "Stars" who appeared in the BBC-TV Programme "90 YEARS ON" included: Billy Cotton, Ian Charmichael, Roy Castle, Alma Cogan, Arthur Askey, Cicely Courtneidge, Margreta Elkins, Margot Fonteyn, Peter Graves, Edmund Hockridge, Davy Kaye, Kathy Kirby, Ted Ray, Anton Rodgers, Anne Rogers, Harry Secombe, Noel Coward, Terence Rattigan, Stephanie Voss, Wilfrid Brambell, Andy Steward, Reg Varney, Kenneth Connor, and Jimmy Edwards.
Churchill's 90th birthday would prove his last; he died in January 1965, "a living national memorial" of the time he had lived and the Nation, Empire, and free world he had served. Item #008935
